Getting Braces Put On

Straightening crooked smiles and fixing misaligned jaws is a lot easier than it may sound. Serving South Florida residents of all ages, orthodontist, Miami native and Assistant Professor of Clinical Orthodontics Dr. Stephen Grussmark ensures that all patients are treated individually and transparently.

Step 1: Initial Consultation

Every patient’s first step involves scheduling a consultation at our Miami office with Dr. Grussmark. This is where we perform a thorough examination of your oral health to determine what ailment needs treatment. When Dr. Grussmark makes a diagnosis, we begin to work together to devise a treatment plan that best suits your needs.

Step 2: Treatment Plan

After your consultation, Dr. Grussmark will address your condition with an individualized orthodontic treatment plan. This plan will outline, step-by-step, what you can expect from your treatment. You will learn the length of your treatment, the expected movement of your teeth and how you care for your orthodontic devices.

Step 3: Application of Treatment

Patients opting for traditional braces will make an appointment with Dr. Grussmark to have them installed. Feel free to bring your questions, as Dr. Grussmark and the staff are more than happy to address any concerns that you have. Once the procedure is finished – typically after 1-2 hours – Dr. Grussmark will outline a homecare routine

Invisalign patients will make an appointment to have impressions taken of the teeth. Special technicians will use these impressions to craft the various sets of aligners that will be used throughout treatment. When these are ready, simply return to our office to pick them up.

Step 4: Regular Progress Checkups

Regardless of which treatment you choose for your orthodontic treatment, you will need to attend regular checkups with Dr. Stephen Grussmark. For users of traditional braces, these checkups will be used to tighten your braces as needed. For Invisalign patients, these appointments will be used to make sure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

Step 5: End of Treatment

Once your treatment has completed, you will return to our office so that Dr. Stephen Grussmark can walk you through outpatient procedures. For traditional braces, this means removing the treatment from your teeth. Regardless of which treatment you used to correct your crooked or misaligned teeth, Dr. Grussmark may recommend that you use a retainer going forward.
