Orthodontic Treatment for Adults

Once you get into adulthood, first impressions begin to matter more than ever. Here at the Centre for Braces in Miami, we believe there’s no time like the present to take care of your smile.  Our practice offers many options for adults to perfect their smiles, and Dr. Stephen Grussmark can help determine which route is best for you.

Traditional Braces

Traditional metal braces are still the most popular form of orthodontic treatment. They are comprised of standard metal brackets that adhere to your teeth and are connected by a wire. They require monthly tightening, the pressure gradually straightening your teeth and aligning your jaw as needed.

Self-Ligating Braces

Self-ligating braces are similar to traditional braces, but instead of using rubber bands to hold the wires together, they use brackets with clips. Many patients opt for self-ligating braces, as they are easier to clean food does not get stuck as easily.

Temporary Anchorage Device

If you have one or more teeth that erupted too far into the upper-jaw, you may require additional implants in order to correct this. In place of traditional orthodontic headgear, temporary anchorage devices can be used to provide additional pressure to the tooth. TADs entail small screws placed over the overly erupted tooth. A rubber band attaches the screws to the bracket of the tooth. Now, the tooth can be pulled back into a normal position.
